What is live streamining?
Live streaming is video broadcasting of the autopsy in real-time while we do the case. A live-streamed autopsy can be viewed on a number of platforms, like Facebook and our Video Platform, Autopsy.Online. During live streaming, we interact with the viewers by taking on-line questions and answering them live during the case. Back to top of page.

Which cases do you live stream? Or do you live stream all of them?
We only live stream cases when you authorize live streaming. We do not make that choice. You and your loved one’s privacy and confidentiality are our priority. The case will not be live streamed without your consent. We typically ask the family during the consent process if they wish to live stream. For some cases, we will not make the request (for example, cases under criminal investigation or children). Back to top of page

Can I opt out of live streaming?
Yes. Back to top of page

How do you protect confidentiality during the live stream?
We prepare the body before the live stream by covering the face, written identifiers (name tags and case numbers) and other visual identifiers (tatoos). During the case we do not disclose case identifiers (patient name, age, unique case details). The case facility and location are not disclosed. Back to top of page

Who chooses to live stream?
Families who want to participate in health education or believe their loved one valued health education have chosen to live stream the cases. Other families who have not been able to participate in organ donation have sought live streaming as an alternative to “make a difference” for the future. Every family is different and chooses for reasons unique to them. Back to top of page

Who watches the live stream?
Live stream is open to the general public. Back to top of page

Is there a cost to live streaming?
No. There is no additional cost to live stream? Back to top of page

Can I donate my body just to have it live streamed for an autopsy?
We are working to make this option a reality. Many families would like to make this choice. Right now, we can only live stream when the family requests an autopsy for another reason and then consents to live stream. Back to top of page

What are you doing to make donation for live stream autopsy a reality?
We already have the technology to live stream. To make the gift an option, we need to cover the cost for the family. Our viewership for live streaming is massive, so we have engaged viewers for their support. Viewers can download our 99 cent Autopsy app to support live streaming. Find the app at at iTunes or Google Play Store. Learn more about the app here. Viewers can also subscribe to our Go Live option at Autopsy.Online. Autopsy.Online is our video and livestreaming desktop platform. Back to top of page.
