The founder, Dr. Ben Margolis, received his B.A. from Harvard University and his M.D. from the University of Chicago. Under his guidance, the Autopsy Center of Chicago addresses a family’s needs on multiple levels, from the emotional to the practical.
In addition, Autopsy Center participates in community and school outreach, professional education, and legislative action. Dr. Margolis’s work with the Judiciary Committee of the Illinois General Assembly in 2011 resulted in an amendment to a bill (now law) empowering families to access the chart of the deceased.
